The Istanbul University Faculty of Arts Strengthening and Restoration Project, initiated in 2018 and completed in 2020, aimed to strengthen and restore the historical buildings of the faculty.
The faculty was constructed as part of Darülfünun, the first modern university of the Ottoman Empire, founded in 1870. The buildings were built in neoclassical and eclectic styles and are among Istanbul's most significant historical landmarks.
Within the scope of strengthening and restoration works, damages in the buildings were identified, and necessary repairs were carried out. Furthermore, the historical texture of the buildings was preserved and reinforced.
The project represented a significant step in preserving and strengthening the historical and cultural value of the faculty. With the completion of the project, the faculty has become one of Istanbul's most important cultural centers.
