Lakhta Center Leaves You in Awe

"Lakhta Center" is a large mixed-use construction project located outside the city center of St. Petersburg, Russia. It is the city's first high-rise skyscraper and was designed to include a science and education complex, sports and activity facilities, and an outdoor amphitheater. The construction of Lakhta Center was completed in 2018, and its main tower, standing at 462 meters in height, became the tallest building in Russia and Europe. Additionally, due to its location, Lakhta Center is the northernmost skyscraper in the world. Among all structures, Lakhta Center ranks as the second tallest in Europe after the Ostankino Tower (540 meters) based on its height.

The design of Lakhta Center's main tower was inspired by the Okhta Center project after the decision to move the location of Gazprom's new headquarters from Okhta to Lakhta in 2010. The design and construction of Lakhta Center were undertaken by the Russian architectural and engineering firm Gorproekt.
